Harvard Faculty of Arts and Sciences: Perspectives on Leadership and China

On Saturday, January 18, 2014, we heldPerspectives on Leadership and China featuring Harvard’s Michael D. Smith, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, John H. Finley, Jr. Professor of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Xiao-Li Meng, Dean of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences and Whipple V. N. Jones Professor of Statistics, and Mark C. Elliott, Director of the Fairbank Center for Chinese Studies and Mark Schwartz Professor of Chinese and Inner Asia History.

Dean Smith outlined current priorities for the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, described the innovations in teaching and learning that will help reshape undergraduate and graduate education in the 21st century. Dean Meng and Professor Elliott engaged in a dialogue, partially in Mandarin, about Harvard’s interests, activities, and scholarship in China.

2014年1月18日，哈佛文理学院研究生院，哈佛北京校友会，哈佛大学校友会以及哈佛大学费正清中国研究中心共同举办了哈佛大学文理学院论坛：展望哈佛，展望中国。哈佛文理学院院长史密斯教授，哈佛大学研究生院院长孟晓犂教授， 以及哈佛大学费正清中国研究中心主任欧立德教授共同主持了该论坛。

史密斯院长将分享了文理学院在鼓励、接受，和领导变革中所面临的重要任务。凭借全体教学人员，开创式的领导，新颖的教学，和学习体验的各种创新，哈佛将为二十一世纪提供无与伦比的本科生和研究生教育。孟晓犂教授和欧立德教授也就哈佛在中国的兴趣、活动及学术研 究与与会者以中、英文进行了对话。
