"Experience Economy" Event on 11/18
On November 18, 2014, the Harvard Club of Beijing held “Experience Economy: Harvard Alumni Share Their Stories Running Lifestyle Businesses in China” at Institute Sarita in Salitun. The event featured four Harvard alumnae sharing their stories running lifestyle businesses in China, including Sara Jana Ho from Institute Sarita, Chenling Zhang and Tian Mayimin from VLCEANSE and Mei Zhang from WildChina.
During the panel discussion, the founders shared candidly their motivations for entering their sector, challenges and lessons learned when launching and running their business, thoughts on copycats, as well as anecdotes that drew laughter from the audience. The audience then asked questions on marketing strategies for startups, Harvard education’s influence on the founders and ways of balancing work and personal lives. An elegant mixer over vegan refreshments catered by VCLEANSE followed right after. Attendees also entered into a lucky draw for a trip donated by WildChina.
The sold-out event brought together more than 60 alums from Harvard and various other schools. Harvard alumni Kate Wang and Ed Chan organized the event.
